What Are We Doing?

I’m tired
of trees being taken
for growth

I’m tired
of giant
cookie cutter houses
where people pretend
they live on a farm

but when they look
out their window
they see the inside
of their neighbors house
instead of lush fields
rolling hills
and sky

and instead of
a vegetable garden
fruit trees
and bramble
with berries

they drive
to the
organic food store

they see not
the irony
the deception

of planting flowers
to attract pollinators
while spraying
poison on them

or hanging
tiny death chambers
disguised as
homes for bees

keep it up
and there won’t be
anything to buy
at that organic food store
