Long languid days

Kudzu flowers
Magnolia
Gardenia
Jasmine
Wisteria
Baking in the sun
Their scent hanging in the heat
And drinking them all in with every sense

Lemonade with sweet mint from the garden

Pollinators drinking in the flowers and
Wild herbs

Hot nights
Sung with cicadas and crickets
Sounds of the barred owl
Frogs at the creek

Front porches and slow living

Ambling through fruit trees and
Brambles of berries
Devouring their sun warmed sweetness
Gifts of natures feast

Poke and Sumac filled fields
Pregnant with berries
That not all know how to use
But oh the wonders for those who do

Fill me with
Your sun laden glory
Your wild landscape
Home to medicines and life

Protect me
With your Oaks and Pines
With vines of sweetness
And thorns

This is my
Southern love letter

Love, SpiderRain
