Hello dear reader! Welcome back to the farm!

Making Progress

We have a lot to show you! Since we broke ground out back, we had a bit of a monsoon season here. In between rains, we were blessed with a sunny weekend and we took advantage of it. This meant re-tilling the garden spot, digging some post holes for the wall around the garden and covering it all with straw so the next round of rains wouldn’t undo all that work again.

The second tilling went easier than the first and we got a clearer outline of the garden. It also made digging the post holes pretty easy too, although I wish I could have made them a bit deeper. Well, guess that’s one of the reasons for the garden wall…..it’s also going to act as a raised bed so we can build up the soil where the posts are.

Randomly, we ran across someone who was having their fence replaced. They were going to throw the old fence away, but said we could take it. Perfect! So now these are being used as the garden wall. Since Spider and I pruned those trees, we have fence posts too!

Spider bravely went in the basement and cleared out years worth of accumulated crap. Stuff from before we had moved in too! We hauled it down to the curb and scheduled a bulk pick up. Well, for most of it.  We found some cool wooden frames that are now going to be the garden gates.

Tiny Distractions

Speaking of garden gates, I tried to make them. I really did. I had everything laid out, cut the hardware cloth to fit them and was going to attach it to the frames. I got a little distracted instead. You’ll see why in the video below………

They are a whole story themselves, so we won’t get into that yet. But dang…..they are adorable!!!

Thanks for checking in, we are so excited to share our progress with you! If you’d like to help support our project, you can donate here, or click on the logo below.
